Big Data and Exascale Computing (BDEC) Community Report

SESSION: Big Data and Exascale Computing (BDEC) Community Report

EVENT TYPE: Birds of a Feather

EVENT TAG(S): Data-Intensive Computing, Government Strategies, Programs, and Funding, Exascale

TIME: 10:30AM - 12:00PM

SESSION LEADER(S):Jack Dongarra, Pete Beckman, Daniel Reed

The emergence of “Big Data” analytics in a wide variety of scientific fields has disrupted the entire research landscape on which emerging plans for exascale computing must develop. Participants in the international workshop series on Big Data and Extreme-scale Computing (BDEC) are endeavoring to systematically map out the ways in which the major issues associated with Big Data interact with plans for achieving exascale computing. This meeting will present an overview of the draft BDEC report and elicit SC’15 community input on the development of a roadmap for the convergence on a common software infrastructure of currently disparate software ecosystems.

Session Leader Details:

Jack Dongarra (Primary Session Leader) - University of Tennessee, Knoxville
