openHMC - A Configurable Open-Source Hybrid Memory Cube Controller
SESSION: Emerging Technologies Exhibits
EVENT TYPE: Emerging Technologies
EVENT TAG(S): SoC for HPC
TIME: 9:00AM - 5:30PM
SESSION CHAIR(S): Simon McIntosh-Smith, Sadaf R. Alam
ROOM:14
ABSTRACT:
The link between the processor and the memory is one of the last remaining parallel buses and a major performance bottleneck in HPC systems. The Hybrid Memory Cube (HMC) was developed with the goal of helping overcome this memory wall.
The presented project is an open-source implementation of an HMC host controller that can be configured to different datapath widths and HMC link variations. Due to its modular design, the controller can be integrated in many different system environments. Many HPC applications will benefit from using openHMC, which is a verified, no-cost alternative to commercially available HMC host controller IP.
