SCHEDULE: NOV 15-20, 2015

When viewing the Technical Program schedule, on the far righthand side is a column labeled "PLANNER." Use this planner to build your own schedule. Once you select an event and want to add it to your personal schedule, just click on the calendar icon of your choice (outlook calendar, ical calendar or google calendar) and that event will be stored there. As you select events in this manner, you will have your own schedule to guide you through the week.

ESPT2015: Extreme-Scale Programming Tools

SESSION: ESPT2015: Extreme-Scale Programming Tools

EVENT TYPE: Workshops

EVENT TAG(S): Programming Systems, SIGHPC Workshop

TIME: 9:00AM - 5:30PM

Organizer(s):Andreas Knuepfer, Martin Schulz, Felix Wolf, Brian Wylie

ROOM:Hilton Salon B

ABSTRACT:

The architectural complexity in HPC is growing and this brings various challenges such as tight power budgets, variability in CPU clock frequencies, load balancing in heterogeneous systems, hierarchical memories and shrinking I/O bandwidths. This is especially prominent on the path to exascale. Therefore, tool support for debugging and performance optimization becomes more necessary than ever. However, the challenges mentioned above also apply to tools development and, in particular, raise the importance of topics such as automatic tuning and methodologies for tools-aided application development. This workshop will serve as a forum for HPC application developers, system designers, and tools researchers to discuss the requirements for exascale-enabled tools and the roadblocks that need to be addressed on the way. We also highly encourage application developers to share their experiences using existing tools. The event will serve as a community forum for all interested in interoperable tool-sets ready for an exascale software stack.

This workshop will produce a refereed proceedings that will be available through the ACM Digital Library and IEEE Xplore (free of charge during and immediately after SC, and free after that to SIGHPC members).
