ABSTRACT:
The OpenSFS Benchmarking Working Group is organizing this BoF. The goal of this BoF is to discuss the current state of file system benchmarking practices, to identify the current gaps and to discuss how can we fill those gaps.In particular, we will discuss how to correctly, effectively, and efficiently benchmark large-scale storage/file-systems, the possible experimental methodology pitfalls, and how to avoid them.We will discuss the scalability of these practices for future emerging storage devices and beyond-petascale systems. As an outcome, we expect to release a document that will summarize our findings and areas that community needs to focus on.
